Help Save Kids Lives
Between the 4th and the 10th of May, many countries around the globe will celebrate the Third World Road Safety Week, which this time the United Nations has dedicated to children.
Worldwide, some 500 children die every single day in traffic related incidents, whereas in Spain, the DGT report that in 2013, 46 children under 14 years of age were killed in road accidents, 410 were seriously injured and 5,502 suffered minor injuries.
During the campaign in Spain, under the banner “Salvemos a los niños”, children are encouraged to join in with various awareness activities, supported by the adult population, to promote such safe practices as wearing seatbelts, including in buses, wearing helmets and keeping safe and visible on the roads, whilst also encouraging awareness in adults of similar attitudes, including eliminating alcohol consumption for drivers.
A hashtag has been created for social network sites, which is #SaveKidsLives, and all children can participate by signing the Child Declaration on the website, www.savekidslives2015.org as well as participating in a share a selfie campaign, which has been nicknamed with the hashtag #safie.
