CRESCENDO INTERNATIONAL CHOIR
On Sunday 9th May, the Crescendo International Choir gave a performance in the parochial church at Benijófar to a very receptive audience. The programme was very varied, ranging from Vivaldi’s Gloria and John Rutter’s Look at the World to several pieces by the Beatles and ABBA. The concert ended with a rousing rendition of a Zulu song “Siyahamba” and they said “Farewell” with their theme “The Blessing of Aaron”.
A bucket collection raised almost €150 which was donated to the Benijófar Social Services to help with providing food to the needy in the town – more than 50 families!
Crescendo will be performing again on Saturday 30th May at their rehearsal venue, El Paraiso Restaurant near to Carrefour in Torrevieja. The concert starts at 4pm and is their “End of Season” concert before the Summer break. Entrance costs just €3 and the concert will be a variety of music including such favourites as Rhythm of Life, and more Beatles and ABBA numbers. Come along and join the fun!
The choir will return to rehearsals on Friday 4th September starting at 9.30am, so if the concerts have whetted your appetite, why not come along and join in their new season. There are several concerts planned for Autumn and Christmastide which promise some challenging numbers to entertain you all. It is not necessary to be able to read music as very comprehensive “teach” discs are available to help with learning the different parts.
