T.M.G.S. at La Finca

32 members and guests descended upon this very popular course, after the recent rain it was pleasing to play in sunshine but without the high temperatures. Surprisingly the golf course stood up well to the downpours only the greens seemed to be a little on the slow side but that didn’t affect the scoring too much.

Today’s format was Medal, as this was the 1st round of our Annual Medal trophy competition which is played at 5 different courses over the next 6 months and where we calculate the best 4 from 5 cards. Regular readers will know that we are a multinational Society and last week I appealed for a few more Brits to help fend off the Vikings, well your response has been overwhelming, apart from a number of Brits taking up membership this week we have also attracted a few Dutchman who have also seen the advantages of becoming a member, we even have an Argentine member and no he doesn’t mention the Falklands.

With a number of visitors today the committee decided that we would issue prizes to the top 3 places, the Vikings were a little low on numbers so Long boat Captain,Ole Rong brought along his “grandson” as a visitor and as you would expect he managed to finish in the prizes taking 3rd place with a net 76, in 2nd place with net 74 and playing off handicap 4 was Adam Brown, top of the shop in this category with the best score of the day was another Viking, Carsten Dybrand with a net 69 playing off 6. The Silver category also returned good scores with the Argentinian, Claudio Torres in 3rd place with a net 74, Captain Ole returned a par 72 to take 2nd place, but in 1st place and encouraging to see that his lessons are paying off was Dutchman Fred Kras net 71. Gold category results; Swedish member Arne Hansson net 76, in 2nd place Englishman Gary Turner with net 75 and again taking first place was Chris Gray with a net 73. In the members “2’s” pot, well no one made a 2, so the kitty will roll over to next week’s Competition at Alenda Golf. In the N.T.P.’s competition this week the lucky winners were; hole 3 Derek Newell, hole 6 Lasse Hagstrom, hole 13 Ole Rong and hole 16 Lasse Hagstrom.
