ARMISTICE DAY SERVICE

“At the 11th Hour,11th Day, 11th Month, members of the Zurgena Branch ,The Royal British Legion joined with the local ex-pat community in a Service of Remembrance for those who sacrificed all. Mr. Dennis Hibbert, Chairman, welcomed the guests,
Lola Anta Deputy Mayor Zurgena, Noelia Garcia Jimenez Councilor for Public Works and Councilor Jim Simpson and congregation before the Standard was marched in.

Canon Alan Bennet conducted the service and Mrs. Christine Allison read from
John 3. 16-21 and the poem “Why I wear a poppy”.
Wreathes and personal crosses where laid at the altar.

The Last Post sounded followed by the Exhortation and 2 minutes’ silence at 11:00.
After Reveille, The National Anthem The Chairman recited the Kohima Epitaph and closed the service.

Following the service, a light buffet was served.
