THE VI Sierra Cabrera Xtreme / La Mojaquera 2017 race, held in Mojácar and organised by Mojácar Council and the Mojácar Bike CCD Cycling Club, passed without incident in a perfectly organised race, despite the high number of participants.

It is one of the most difficult tests of the Andalucian calendar in the MTB Marathon mode, with a 75 kilometres course and a combined ascent of more than 2,500 metres. La Mojaquera 2017 is a ranking event in the Provincial Circuit of Almería and the Andalucian XCM, which ensured that the best cyclists of the BBT were present.

Victor Manuél Fernández Grande was overall winner with a time of 3h, 22m, followed by Javier Borrás, in second and Juan Carlos Madrid, who obtained third place.

Ana Dolores Jimenez won the female Master 40 category with a time of 4h, 49m, giving her a place in the top 100 of the Andalucian circuit. Local cyclist Lisa Anne Tobin was winner of the women’s general podium.

The prizes were presented by Ana García, Mojácar Sports Councillor, and Gerardo Martinez Cabello, Director of the organising team.

Ana García was also present throughout the race, helping and assisting runners as part of the supporting organization. She praised those responsible for security and safety for their impeccable cooperation (including the Local Police, Civil Protection and volunteers), as well as the professionalism and sportsmanship of all the participants.
