ALMERIA City Council has awarded prizes to winners of a ‘selfies’ competition. The contest formed part of the city’s tourism promotion activities as part of World Tourism Day.

Mayor Ramón Fernández-Pacheco congratulated “all the winners, but also the many participants who have had this idea because without them this contest would not make any sense.” There have been almost 400 people who have participated and 1,146 photos received.

The most photographed places have been the Cathedral, the Alcazaba, the English Cable, the Plaza Clara Campoamor, the Caño de Puerta Purchena and the Central Market.

Fernández-Pacheco, who has been accompanied by Councilwoman Carolina Lafita, acknowledged the positive impact of the initiative. “and thanked” all those institutions and companies that have helped to make this contest a success, such as Provincial Delegation of Almería, Viajes el Corte Inglés, Audi Vera Import, ASHAL and Paradores.”

The Mayor also presented prizes to winners, including a cruise for two people; a weekend trip to a European city and a stay in Paradores.

The activities form part of Almeria’s Promotion Area of the City, charged with promoting Almeria as a tourist destination.
