ORGANIC production was celebrated with the Andalucia Sabor this week focussing on different organic produce and the significance of farming to the region.
Activities and stands were manned by companies and businesses promoting their work, as well as environmental organisations focusing on eco-friendly products.
Representatives of Andalucian provincial councils were also in attendance, including Almeria, to show their support for the industry of which a significant portion is based in the province.
Chefs and restauranteurs were also in attendance to showcase the culinary quality of the province and what is has to offer.
The sixth year of the fair is to highlight the agro-ecosystem which already has more than 3,000 partners in Spain, of which almost a third are Andalucian.
The mission of the show is to offer advice to companies, farmers, shops and catering establishments. It also provides training and support in the promotion of its products.
Andalucia is the leader in organic production with almost one million hectares, representing 50% of the total farming area in Spain and with more than 660,000 herds of cattle. Additionally, the region has nearly 14,300 operators among farmers, ranchers and industries.
In 2016 Andalucia had about 1,800 eco industry activities.
