MOJACAR Town Hall and the Guardia Civil have given a talk in English aimed at foreign residents who are over 65 years of age.

Two members of the Guardia Civil alongside volunteers of the Red Cross, who also served as translators, delivered guidance on safety precautions and crime prevention.

The campaign, promoted by the Ministry of the Interior and Health, Social Services and Equality, and organised by the city of Mojacar, is intended to help and advise the elderly and more vulnerable members of the community who are advanced in age and may not be fluent in Spanish.

Thirty per cent of Mojacar’s population comprises English-speaking foreigners.

The talk, which had already been conducted in Spanish for residents of Mojacar, stressed prudence both at home and in everyday places such as the bank, when travelling and on the street as well as the hidden dangers of social networks and online fraud.

The talk took place in the hall of the municipal building of the Third Age, located in the Fountain.
