MIGRANT CRISIS: 33 more people, including a baby, rescued from Almerian waters

THE Salvamento Maritimo has rescued 33 people from waters close to the Cabo de Gata as the migrant crisis in Southern Spain continues.

According to Spanish media, the Salvamento Maritimo’s Helimer 207 helicopter first spotted two vessels approximately 24 and 35 nautical miles southeast of the Cabo de Gata.

The first boat was rescued at approximately 5:34pm yesterday (Thursday) with 11 people on board, including eight men, two women and a baby, while the second was rescued just before 7pm with 22 men on board.

They have now been taken to the fishing port of Almeria.
