A LITHUANIAN man will appear in court today on suspicion of murder, after his partner was found dead on Friday.
According to reports, the man had called the emergency services claiming that his partner could not breathe.
After attending the scene, emergency services personnel then immediately contacted the Guardia Civil after the woman was pronounced dead at the scene due to the circumstances of her death.
The woman, 48-year-old Spaniard Maria del Carmen, was then allegedly found by Guardia Civil officers at her home she shared with the man with ‘obvious signs of violence’ on her body and died due to a ‘massive loss of blood’.
A full autopsy will now be carried out to find the specific cause of death while policeare alleged to currently believe that the woman was attacked with some form of weapon and died due to her subsequent injuries.
Reports also suggest that the woman had previously reported gender violence in the relationship, before he was acquitted in 2016.
Albox Mayor, Francisco Torrecillas, has confirmed that today (Monday) has been officially declared as a day of mourning in the municipality.
There will also be a service held at 12m this afternoon as an ‘expression of (the Town Hall’s) condemnation of the death and against all types of violence against women’.
