Wild West rides into Almeria Province with Film Festival this October

ALMERIA’S Tabernas desert is set to be transformed into the Wild West this October for a Western Film Festival where several new movies are due to debut.

The Almeria Western Film Festival (AWFF) is set to go ahead from Tuesday October 9 to Saturday October 13.

The programme for the festival was unveiled at Almeria City’s Alcazaba yesterday (Thursday). A total of ten feature films are set to be premiered there, along with twenty short movies from across the world.

Mark Landre Gould, director of this year’s Western Gone Are The Days, has been booked to open the festival. A number of directors and producers who have worked on films in the genre have also said they will take part.

The festival’s films are grouped into the Feature Films, Western Short Films, Neo-Western and Retrospective categories.
There is also a category called Panorama, new for this year, which features three documentaries that will premiere at the festival.

There will also be a programme of activities taking place across the Tabernas deserts ‘Western towns’ of Oasys MiniHollywood, Fort Bravo Texas Hollywood and Western Leone.
