THE evocative music of Ennio Morricone will provide the soundtrack to the Almeria International Film Festival galas in a nod to the 50th anniversary of the premiere of legendary Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western, Once upon a time in the West, which was filmed in the province.

The provincial government said the anniversary provided the perfect excuse for turning the galas into a homage to one of the most important soundtrack composers of all times.

Morricone has composed for some of the most famous directors in the world of cinema, among them Quentin Tarantino, Pedro Almodovar, Roman Polanski and Brian de Palma, as well as for fellow Italian Sergio Leone and his Westerns shot in Almeria.
