The designer and entrepreneur Ilse Jacobsen has died from cancer having been diagnosed with lymphoma in 2021.
The news was broken on Monday, October 24 by her company IJH A/S, in a press release.
Ilse Jacobsen, who was just 62 years old, had been battling cancer since last summer and eventually succumbed on Sunday surrounded by her family.
The press release said: “Ilse’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you for the professional treatment and great care Ilse has received during her illness from both Rigshospitalet and Hillerød Hospital.”
She was according to the daily newspaper B.T affected by an aggressive form of lymphoma, and this led to hospitalisation at Rigshospitalet.
At the time she said: “It’s tough. Mega hard. It is an evil disease. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I really think it’s tough.”
Born and raised in Hornbæk, Jacobsen built an iconic business that is well known for her clothing brand Ilse Jacobsen Hornbæk.
Her “lifestyle universe” included women’s clothing, shoes, rainwear, rubber boots and a beauty series, and especially for the iconic, black-shafted rubber boots in natural materials.
She opened her first store in 1993 and over the years developed a business in her style and character, creating a spirit with employees and management.
The designer and entrepreneur Ilse Jacobsen is survived by her husband and daughter.
