By the end of this year, all of the Subway sandwich outlets in Estonia will be closed permanently.

Subtastic OÜ, the company that operates the popular Subway sandwich restaurants in Estonia, announced on Sunday, October 23, that it plans to close all of its outlets before the year ends.

Subtastic’s executive manager Ats Raigla told Delfi’s Ärileht that even though the company’s turnover and efficiency have improved in recent years, the franchise provider has decided to close its sandwich locations across the country.

“The background, broadly speaking, is that the franchise provider, as an important link in the business, who should be interested in local partners’ maximally effective and viable business model, has set about obstructing the meeting of said targets instead”, Raigla said.

So far, only the Viimsi Subway has been closed to date, with the rest of the chain’s restaurants in Estonia ready to follow suit by the end of November, as reported by news.err.ee.
