According to news site BNN-news on Tuesday, November 1 the individual is also charged with contributing to national and ethnic hate in Latvian society for a long time.

The VDD told BNN that the individual was actively encouraging residents to oppose the demolition of Soviet monuments in Daugavpils.

His home has since been searched after a court order was obtained with the evidence confiscated still being analysed but is said to contain videos and other pro-Russian material. The material is said to glorify Russia and Russian interests.

The VDD had remained on high alert even before active demolition of the Soviet monuments commenced in Daugavpils. Intelligence suggested that there would be attacks on those involved in removing Russian era statues, which identified at least 20 possible suspects.

Further arrests and charges are expected to be laid after Latvian State Security Service detain at least one pro-Kremlin activist
