Dua Lipa says she will visit Qatar when she fulfils her promise to address human rights.

English singer and songwriter Dua Lipa announced that she will not be taking part in the performance for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. This statement comes aim speculation that the pop star was planning to perform during the World Cup this year. 

According to a story on Variety from Sunday, November 13, the pop star shared her statement on the issue through social media pushing for the host nation to address human rights abuses. She also denied rumours of her involvement in the performance for the World Cup 2022.  

“I will not be performing and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiations to perform,” she wrote in an Instagram story. She further said that “I will be cheering England on from afar.” 

The pop singer also stated that she looks forward to visiting Qatar, once the host country fulfils the pledge it made at the time when it won the right to host.  

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be taking place at the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha, Qatar. A total of 32 teams from different countries will be participating this year. 

According to the report, an overwhelming number of migrant workers lost their lives during the construction of the stadiums.
