Level of pollution in the Bosnian capital were 17 times higher than WHO guidelines on Sunday

Sarajevo has been ranked as the world´s most polluted city after a recent survey done by air quality technology firm IQAir. According to a report by Euronews on Tuesday, November 29, the city is not the only place in Bosnia that suffers from poor air quality. Other areas in the country including Zenica and Tuzla are also facing similar issues, the report said.

Meanwhile authorities have now instructed the public to close their windows and use air purifiers at homes. Aside from this, they have also asked people to wear masks when they step outdoors.

According to the statement in the article, a Sarajevo official said, “In a few days, we will have a meeting with big European cities that are facing similar problems, and to discuss a short-term action plan for situations of excessive air pollution”.

The air pollution levels in the Bosnian capital on Sunday, the report added, were recorded over 17 times more than recommended guidelines by the World Health Organization.
