All verified accounts to also be manually authenticated before getting the tick: MUSK
Twitter owner Elon Musk recently announced on the social media platform that the company will be launching a new plan for user verifications. According to a report by Euronews on Friday, November 25, Musk also said the new plan could be released as early as December 2.
Musk also said in his statement that three different types of verification ticks will also be introduced. Calling it painful but necessary, Musk said, Gold check for companies, grey check for government, blue for individuals (celebrity or not) and all verified accounts will be manually authenticated before check activates”, the report stated. He further said that all verified accounts will be again manually authenticated before they are given any of the ticks.
The report also adds, the subscription for what the company calls the Twitter Blue could also be increased from $5 to $20.
The decision to make these changes comes after Twitter has paused the recent initiative to monetize the verification tick. This was followed by a by several parody accounts that were created impersonating celebrities and former president, the report said.
