Over 1000 shells and missiles fired by Russians at Ukraine´s power grid: Interfax

Ukraine power grid chief says his officials are scouring the world for the complex equipment needed for repairs 

Ukraine´s power grid operator´s Chief Volodymyr Kudrytsky in a recent statement has said, Russian forces fired over 1000 times on the country´s power grid. According to a report by Reuters on Wednesday, November 7, Ukrainian news agency Interfax cited Kudrytsky making this statement.  

The report states, Kudrytsky, chief executive of Ukrenergo made this statement during a meeting arranged by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Ukrenergo is an electricity transmission system operator in Ukraine and the sole operator of the country’s high-voltage transmission lines.   

A quote by Kudrytsky in the article said, “These attacks represent the biggest blow to a power grid that humanity has ever seen. More than 1,000 shells and rockets were fired at electrical facilities and lines, including substations”. He also said that the systems were still working and intergrated, “not broken or disconnected”, the report said.  

During the meeting. Intefax Ukraine also states, officials from Ukrenergo are scouring the world to find complex equipment require for conducting all the repairs. Ukraine´s power grids were attacked by the Russians in eight recent waves of strikes that has seriously damaged it.  

The report also states, Ukrenergo announced it has secured over €300 million in EBRD loans to restore the power infrastructure in the country after the attacks as well as improve financial stability.
