Officials say Russian private military company received weapons to help strengthen them fight alongside the Russian troops in the Ukraine war

The U.S. government announced that Russia´s private military company – Wagner Group, has received weapons from North Korea. According to a report by the Associated Press on Friday, December 23, this was claimed by John Kirby, spokesperson White House national security council, who said North Korea sent their initial shipment of rockets and missiles last month.

A statement in the report quoting Kirby said, “We assess that the amount of material delivered to Wagner will not change battlefield dynamics in Ukraine”. He added, “But we’re certainly concerned that North Korea is planning to deliver more military equipment”. Kirby also said that the information was determined by U.S. intelligence officials.

Discussing the role of the Wagner group in the war, Kirby said, “in certain instances, Moscow military officials have even been subordinate to Wagner’s command”.

Officials from the Biden administration also made a statement that said, North Korea was violating the UN sanction by selling weapons to the private army. This is due to the ban imposed on the country for importing or exporting weapons.

The report said, North Korean government denies sending any shipment of arms and ammunition to Russia. They refered to the U.S. government’s claims  as “a groundless theory cooked up by some dishonest forces”, the report added.
