Eilidh McFadden and Tom Johnson who threw a cake on King Charles statue at Madame Tussauds will pay £3,500 as compensation   

A court in the UK has accused two activists of criminal damages after they threw a cake at King Charles waxwork in Madam Tussauds.

The Westminster magistrates court announced the verdict on Tuesday, January 31, climate activists Eilidh McFadden and Tom Johnson will now have to pay £3,500 (€3,965) as charges for repainting.

A statement by the court cited by the Guardian said, “The waxwork needed to be repainted after the substances were wiped off, while its jacket, shirt, bowtie and real hair wig needed to be cleaned”.

While announcing the verdict, district judge Neeta Minhas said that the damage was significant and “not minor or temporary”.

She added, “If the damage is significant, even within a peaceful protest, it would not be disproportionate to have a conviction and I find you both guilty”.

As per the report, Johnson was sentenced to a 12-month conditional discharge. He was also ordered to pay  £1,750 (€1,982), as compensation and an additional £250 (€283).

McFadden was ordered by the judge to pay the same amount on the and was sentenced to a 12-month community order.
