More than 300,000 tents set up for housing earthquake victims in Turkey

Turkey steps up housing victims of the earthquake after setting up tents in the disaster zone   

Turkey has announced on Thursday February 23, that its government has set up 313,000 tents in the disaster zone to help the victims of the earthquake.  

The announcement was made by the Turkey´s interior minister Suleyman Soylu, who also said that 100,000 container homes are yet to be installed, according to Reuters.  

Soylu also stated that the death toll in Turkey after the earthquake has increased to 43,556, while about 6,000 people have been reported dead in Syria.  

Discussing plans for reconstruction, he said “Our cities will be built in the right places, our children will live in stronger cities. We know what kind of test we are facing, and we will come out of this stronger”.  

As per estimated by the Turkish government more than 600,000 apartments and 150,000 commercial buildings have been damaged.
