A 49-year-old man has died while he was surfing on La Concha beach in Spain  

A man has died in Spain after he was knocked out by a wave while surfing in Suances.  

According to Antenna3, the incident took place in the province of Cantabria on La Concha beach, as several other surfers were present when the man was in the sea.  

The government of Cantabria in a statement issued after his death said that “A 49-year-old surfer from Polanco (Cantabria) died this Saturday on the Playa de la Concha beach in Suances”. 

After the man was spotted in the sea, other surfers rushed to help him and pulled him out of the water.  

Officials said that “They tried to revive him until the arrival of the emergency services”.  

Emergency services then reached the scene and as per reports, were unable to do anything to save his life.  

A statement released by Emergency Attention Centre said that “The emergency services were mobilised by the Emergency Attention Centre 112 after 8 am, which also included the Local Police of Suances and the Guardia Civil”.

It added that a team of the Cantabria Government was also mobilised through a helicopter, who reached the scene of the incident after landing on the beach.
