Officials said four children have also been severely injured after man attacked pre-school in Brazil
Police in Brazil has said that at least four children have been killed and four others injured after a man armed with a small axe attacked a preschool.
According to Reuters, the incident took place on Wednesday, April 5, after a 25-year-old armed man entered the school in southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.
As per the local security chief Marcio Alberto Filippi, the man gained access to the school after he climbed its wall.
The children were then rushed to the Hospital Santo Antonio in Blumenau, where, along with the four killed, four other who had been injured received treatment.
Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has called the attack a “monstrosity”, as it happened almost a week after a 13-year-old student stabbed a teacher to death and injured four others in Sao Paulo.
He took to twitter and said, “A tragedy like this is unacceptable, an absurd act of hate and cowardice…an act of violence against innocent and defenseless children”.
Police have said that the man responsible for the attack has been arrested.
