Police in Northern Ireland said that pipe bombs have been recovered from a cemetery near the city of Londonderry

Four pipe bombs have been recovered by the police in Northern Ireland, according to a statement by officials on Tuesday, April 11.

According to Reuters, the pipe bombs were discovered at a cemetery located near the city of Londonderry.

The bombs were found during a public safety operation, just a few hours before the arrival of US President Joe Biden in Belfast, located about 110 kilometres from Londonderry.

“The devices were found in an area linked to that parade”, said a statement by the police.

The bombs were found just a day after several people wearing masks attacked a police vehicle with petrol bombs.

“The discovery of these devices was a further sinister and worrying development,” said Assistant Chief Constable Bobby Singleton in a statement.

He added, “Colleagues from Terrorism Investigation Unit will now lead on this investigation”.
