Officials in Australia said the 11 fishermen had been airlifted from a Bedwell Island after their boats were hit by powerful Tropical Cyclone.  

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has said that 11 fishermen have been rescued, after they were found in an island over 330 km (205 miles) off the country´s coast.  

According to the BBC on Tuesday, April 19, the people rescued after their two boats were hit by a “powerful Tropical Cyclone, last week, resulting in sinking one of the boats.  

Nine people from a crew of 10 are still reported missing, as the one person who survived, was stranded in the ocean for hours before he was rescued.  

Survivors of the other boat were then spotted by a plane from the Australian Border Force and were then evacuated in a helicopter.  

A statement by spokesperson of the Australian Border Force said, “They are “all reported to be in good health despite their ordeal”, adding that “the government was now working to repatriate the group as soon as practical”.
