Officials in Ukraine said Russia fired 60 Iranian made kamikaze drones on multiple targets across the country.

One of the biggest swarms of drones has been unleashed by Russia on Ukraine on the eve of Russia celebrating the defeat of Nazi Germany.  

The same day, is symbolically celebrated by Ukraine a day ahead of Russia on Monday, May 8, and is known as Victory Day.  

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a statement, cited by Reuters, spoke of his troop fighting against the Russians and compared them to those fighting the Nazi´s in Germany.  

After the strikes, Kiev´s mayor said that “Russia had fired 60 Iranian-made kamikaze drones at Ukrainian targets, including 36 at the capital, all of which had been shot down”.

Officials statement said that five people were injured after the debris from the drones hit apartments and buildings in the Ukrainian capital.  

Authorities in Ukraine also said that three people were injured after a missile hit a food warehouse in Odessa.  

Kiev has also said that the attacks come as Moscow was making the ‘final push’ in order to capture the city of Bakhmut and deliver it to Russian president Vladimir Putin for Victory Day.
