Donald Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts to making false business records after investigation

Former US president Donald Trump has pleaded guilty on Tuesday, April 4, to 34 felony counts related to “falsiflying business records”, after an investigation was conducted.

According to Reuters, investigations were started after money was paid to a porn star.

Trump, who is the first US president to face criminal charges, was accompanied by his lawyers at the defence, when he said “not guilty”, after he was asked how he pleaded.

As per experts, “Taken together, the charges carry a maximum sentence of more than 100 years in prison under New York law but an actual prison sentence if he is convicted at a trial would almost certainly be far less than that”.

The grand jury in Manhattan, which was conveyed by District Attorney Alvin Bragg, which indicted Trump, was informed that the evidence regarding a payment of $130,000, which was made to porn star Stormy Daniels, during his 2016 presidential campaign.

Daniels revealed that she had been paid to keep quiet about a sexual encounter that Trump had with her in 2006.

A statement released by the White house spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre in the matter said, “I think the American people should feel reassured that when there is an ongoing case like this one that we’re just not commenting”.
