PARTS of Almeria province has been put on yellow alert as winds up to 80 kilometres per hour are expected to hit in the region.
Municipalities including Nacimiento, Campo de Tabernas, Valle del Almanzora and Los Vélez could see winds of up to 80 kmph according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
The agency has also warned that the region’s coast could see waves as big as three metres high with a force of 7.
The alert is expected to remain active until 6pm tomorrow (Thursday).
In the face of strong winds, the Guardia Civil has advised residents to ensure all doors and windows are secured and attempt to stay away from objects that may fall or break off and cause injuries such as trees, walls and buildings under construction.
Drivers are advised to as well as pay attention to the possibility of obstacles that may have fallen onto the road.
