ALMERIA has been given an orange weather warning from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) for winds that could reach up to 90 km/h today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday).

The AEMET’s orange alert for the province is set to take affect from 6pm today and will last until midnight tomorrow, with a force eight westerly winds expected while waves on the coast could also reach up to four metres.

In the Valle del Almanzora and Los Velez, an orange warning had also been given for winds that could reach up to 90 km/h

Temperatures however are set to climb up to 20 degrees over the weekend despite the strong winds.

The Emergency Services have recommended that people in the region take extreme caution and adopt preventive guidelines that help to prevent risks and ensure safety.

For those on the coast, it has been advised to avoid walking along the promenades, breakwater areas and viewpoints as waves can suddenly swell and drag people into the sea.
