Activists from the ecological group “Last Generation” have protested by glueing themselves to the skeleton of a dinosaur in the Natural History Museum of Vienna.

The protest in fact represents the second attempt at this specific action, following the failure of another activist who was stopped by plainclothes police officers just a few weeks ago.

In comments covered by the Austrian newspaper Kurier, the spokesperson for Last Generation, Florian Wagner, said that there will be more actions to come in the future. He explained that “As long as the government ignores the ecological crisis, we cannot stop our actions,”.

Jelena Saf, one of the two women who glued herself to the skeleton, said she was doing so on behalf of her two young sisters and the need to fight for their future. Saf added that the Austrian government was not “in control” of the crisis and warned that the world is “speeding toward climate hell and we can’t get our foot off the accelerator”.

Last Generation have specifically called for the Austrian government to introduce a 100 km/h speed limit on motorways, amongst other policy ideas.

Saf explained that the motivation for targeting the Natural History Museum was a reference to the fact that humans “are not dinosaurs. We have a choice. Let’s choose to survive!”.
