The long-awaited sequel launched almost on the exact date as the first one, over 13 years ago

The legendary film maker James Cameron joined his actors for the world premiere of the latest sequel to the record-breaking blockbuster Avatar.

According to Euronews on Thursday, December 8, Cameron walked the blue carpet in London’s Leicester Square along with the rest of his cast, that also included Kate Winslet, joining this franchise for the first time. The original cast from the first film including Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, and Sigourney Weaver were also present at the premiere.

While discussing his project, Cameron said filming of this project started way back in 2017 and the filmmaker was doubtful if it would ever be complete, “There were times when we didn’t think we’d ever be standing here”, he said, in a quote from the report.

Talking about how the production was affected due to the COVID pandemic, Cameron said, “When the pandemic hit, we got shut down for six months. And even then, when we came back to work, we didn’t even know if there were going to be movie theatres. So, our production bridges that whole period. But, you know, here we are”.

‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ continues the story of Na’vi, a race of extraterrestrial humanoids under attack from humans.
