Officials in the UK said a man has been arrested outside Buckingham Palace on suspicion of carrying an offensive weapon.  Police in London have arrested a man after he has been suspected of possessing an ‘offensive weapon’ outside the Buckingham Palace

According to EuroNews on Wednesday, May 3, a controlled explosion was conducted by the police after the suspicious package was found.

A statement by Metropolitan police said that the man was arrested after he approached the gates of Buckingham Palace and threw items into the grounds.

Police said they suspected that the items inside the bag were shotgun cartridges.

Chief Superintendent Joseph McDonald said, “Officers worked immediately to detain the man and he has been taken into police custody”.

He added, “There have been no reports of any shots fired, or any injuries to officers or members of the public.”

Meanwhile, the police in London also said that investigations are being conducted and officers will remain on the scene of the incident.

This incident happened just a few days before the coronation ceremony of King Charles III, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 6.
