EastEnders: Linda, Elaine scenes bring in 6.6m on Thursday

EastEnders was the most-watched soap on Thursday evening (October 16) as Linda Carter’s storyline continued, overnight figures show.

6.58m (32.7%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as Linda’s mother Elaine appeared to be getting close to the truth about her recent strange behaviour. BBC Three’s repeat screening secured 334k (2.5%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale was close to EastEnders in the ratings, attracting 6.47m (33.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 110k (0.5%) on +1 as Jai was the victim of an accident while arguing with Sam about Charity. 6.46m (31.4%) returned at 8pm and 221k (1.6%) on +1 as Jai was rushed to hospital and Sam made the shock decision to leave Charity to die.

Hollyoaks interested 979k (5.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Diane came close to uncovering Tony’s affair, while E4’s first look followed with 799k (4.2%) at 7pm and 161k (0.8%) on +1.

Elsewhere, Neighbours’ lunchtime screening was Channel 5’s highest-rated show of the day, appealing to 776k (11.8%) at 1.45pm as Nate backed down from taking revenge against Josh. 722k (5.1%) caught up at 5.30pm.

Home and Away continued with 282k (4.3%) at 1.15pm and 543k (3.3%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*’s first look had 384k (2.1%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.3m (19.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
