Fundraising News from MABS
MABS fundraising team work very hard to arrange events and other activities to raise money to support cancer patients and their families. The Arches Bar in Los Alcazares is home to the MABS second hand book stall. Every Saturday you will find MABS volunteers, Val & Malcolm, running their book stall between 10.00am and 1.00pm. In 2014 the book stall raised an amazing €6,194.00. All books are €1 and book donations are always welcome and can be left at the shop or dropped in at The Arches on a Saturday morning. Val & Malcolm thanked Alison Chaplin and the staff of The Arches for their continuing support and presented them with a certificate of appreciation. Thanks also go to everyone who donated or purchased a book from the stall. Well done to all concerned.
The fundraising team have also been very busy putting all the events for 2015 in place. Later this month (February) they will be launching an Indian cookery book which has been written by the mother of a young boy who is a patient of MABS in his honour and to thank MABS for their continued support during his battle with cancer. Bina is a superb cook and is sharing some of her fabulous family recipes. Exact details when this will be available will be published shortly. Other events already in the calendar are:

Life Climb Snowdon in aid of MABS
Donna Walsh, one of our patients and now a volunteer with the fundraising team, is already in training to climb Mount Snowdon with a group of breast cancer survivors. Please support her and MABS by sponsoring her. Sponsor forms available in the shop and the centre. Volunteers Meetings are normally held on the first Wednesday of every second month at Roda’s Bar, Roda 11.00 for 11.15. If you are interested in helping MABS and would like to know more, come along to the meeting or phone our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Sylvia on 634 353 575.
Share & Care Group is held on the 3rd Friday of the month at the Cancer Centre between 11.00am and 1.00pm . This is an informal get together for anyone affected by cancer. Newly diagnosed, cancer survivor, family or friends and indeed anybody affected by cancer or bereaved is welcome to come for a coffee and a chat and to meet others in a similar situation.
