THE Central Market of Almeria is set to return just in time for Christmas.

Market doors are set to officially open on Thursday November 30, open from 5pm to 8:30 pm Monday to Friday and between 8am and 3pm on Saturdays.

Until January 7, the square will also become the “delivery point for children’s letter to both Santa Claus and then the Magi between 5pm and 7pm during weekdays.

Almeria’s Mayor, Ramón Fernández-Pacheco, explained that the change was so customers could be reached at better times of day:  “The idea is to offer this proximity trade to those citizens who in the morning do not have the chance to get close to the market.”

He added that the change will be “good for the trade of the environment and will contribute to energise, also in the evenings, life in the centre.”

There will be a number of activities and workshops while the market is on  including the ‘Healthy Christmas’ workshop, an initiative set up in the hope of informing children of all the fruits and vegetables that are produced in Almeria and how to appreciate it’s flavours.

Alongside the activities, the Municipal School of Music and Arts of Almeria will also be performing on various afternoons in December.

There will also be free parking for visitors as well as wifi.
