ENVIROMENTAL officers of the Junta de Andalucia have found four dead boars trapped to death by illegal steel ties.

The boars were found in Turre reportedly in an advanced state of decomposition after being trapped by thick braided-steel cable ties.

The ties, which are an illegal method of hunting, were reportedly so thick that officers had to remove them with a pair of shears.

All of the traps found were allegedly strategically located along side paths where the animals are known to be found and anchored to large tree trunks

After the discovery, officers inspected the area for further signs of more of the illegal traps and potential signs that could link them to the owner of them, but to no avail.

Territorial delegate for the environment, Raul ex expressed his distain to the findings to Spanish media.

He said: “This practice is expressly prohibited by environmental legislation, since it does not discriminate the species that it captures, and any animal that transits the area can die.”

“Poaching and its effects on fauna can be considered an administrative offence or crime, depending on the extent of the damage caused to the fauna.”
