A MAN from Berja, Almeria – who stabbed his son in several parts of his body, including his head – faces nine years in prison for attempted murder.

The suspect – identified by police as J.S.L.L –  allegedly approached his son yielding two knives as he opened the fridge.

He intended to “end his (son’s) life”, the public prosecutor said.

The pair were reportedly in a family feud when the father stabbed his 23-year-old son in the head, arm and lung as he fled towards the bathroom.

The victim was able to escape his father and seek help from neighbours.

He was then taken to Poniente hospital in El Ejido, where he was suffering from ‘life-threatening’ stab wounds, the public ministry said.

The detainee – who had previous convictions – will stand before provincial courts on June 21.
