FILMAKERS are set to arrive in Almeria City to shoot a new reboot of the Wonder Woman film franchise later this year.

Some scenes of Wonder Woman 1984 are due to be shot at the La Alcazaba fortress in the city. The filmmakers plan to go there in September, with the finished film set to be released in 2019.

Patty Jenkins is directing the film, her second stint in the role for the rebooted version of the superhero franchise.

Israel-born actor Gal Gadot is set to reprise her role as the title character in this instalment of the franchise. It is also set to feature Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal of Narcos fame and Kristen Wiig who will play the villain, Cheetah.

Shoots for the film have also taken place at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden in Britain, as well as in the United States and at Spain’s Canary Islands.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set at the climax of the Cold War in 1984. Its release is planned for November next year.
