Ukraine´s President Volodymyr Zelensky is planning to visit the U.S on Wednesday and could also meet the US president Joe Biden. According to a report by the BBC on Wednesday, December 21, the confirmation of Zelensky´s visit to the U.S was made by unnamed sources in the US media who said, the Ukrainian President could also be addressing the Congress.

The report said that so far there is no official confirmation of Zelensky´s plans, as his visit will be fraught with security concerns due to which plans could change in a short time. This would be his first foreign trip since the invasion by Russian forces in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi also sent a letter on Tuesday urging members to attend the conference on Wednesday. The letter as per the report said, “Please be present for a very special focus on democracy”.

Zelenski made an unannounced visit to Ukraine´s frontline in Bakhmut on Tuesday in a bit to meet the troops and boost their morale. The report said, this would be the first time since the war began that the President would make an unannounced visit outside the country.

Zelenski´s trip to the US highlights the significance of Ukraine’s relationship with the US, after the country provided the highest amount of military aid to the war-torn country since the Russian invasion began on February 24.
