Russian President Putin says the country will see great economic growth in 2023 despite the sanctions

Vladimir Putin has announced that the economy in Russia has surpassed the impacts of sanctions and was expecting a ‘modest’ growth in 2023.

According to a report in Reuters on Thursday, February 9, Putin made a statement that said, “For many of those who tried and are trying to create problems for us, it was a surprise how effectively we are countering the threats in the economy and in certain sectors of production”.

He added, “International institutions have to acknowledge that not only has Russia coped with the shocks that were expected … slight growth is expected in the Russian economy this year.”

The Russian economy was hugely impacted after the country invaded Ukraine as Western countries started imposed sanctions.

The biggest banks of the country were restricted from using the SWIFT financial network, which was aimed to stop it from exporting of oil.
