AROUND 1,000 runners turned out last Sunday to take part in the 5th Grand Mediterranean Backdrop race.
On what was a cloudless day, the runners set out from the Aguadulce marina to cover routes of either 6.5 or 13.5 kilometres against the background of the sea.
Seeing the runners off was city Sports councillor Juanjo Segura, who commented, “Almeria is a perfect city for running due to its light and the beauty of its coast.”
The event was a collaboration between the provincial government, Almeria and Roquetas councils and private companies.
